Marty Receives Cleo Curtis Award

The 2005 recipient of the prestigious Cleo Curtis Award was Marty Ferguson.

This talented teacher of fired arts embodies all the characteristics of an Ambassador that Cleo Curtis must have envisioned when she first approached Duncan Enterprises with her educational goals. No matter how many years a student has been involved with ceramics, her enthusiasm and spirit reaches out to each one. As a former studio owner, her students won awards in numerous competitions; and as a travelling teacher and certified ICA judge, she is committed to encouraging the same high standards in all those she encounters.

In addition to the Duncan Ambassadorship, she is certified in all major colour companies, as well as stoneware, porcelain, and the innovative work of brush embroidery and piping. Education is a goal she set herself over twenty years ago and she has travelled both nationally and internationally to spread her enthusiasm and love she holds for the fired arts. She has been published in national ceramic magazines and has designed several of the most widely popular Duncan University educational seminars as well as teaching her peers at past IADCCT International Conventions She promotes the IADCCT whenever and whereever she can, and has been instrumental in the formation and ongoing success of one of the most active chapters in the organization.
